About the brand

SheaCare Naturals is a Ugandan skin and hair care line from MOHCA Beauty & Skincare Ltd, a women-owned company based in Kampala and founded in 2015. Its products are made with cold-pressed Nilotica shea butter (Vitellaria nilotica) from Northern Uganda.

Nilotica is a different species from the West African shea butter most buyers know. According to the GIZ sector brief, it has a lower melting point (about 26 to 32 °C, against 34 to 44 °C for West African shea), so it is soft at room temperature and melts into oil on skin. SheaCare's butter is sold raw and unrefined, so its natural colour and mild scent are kept.

The company works directly with women-led cooperatives and supplies more than 25 products: raw shea butter in retail and bulk sizes up to 20 kg, shea honey, body care, hair care and lip balm.

It sells to supermarkets, spas and hotels in Uganda, to Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, and to buyers in the EAC, AfCFTA and EU markets.

Raw Unrefined Shea Butter (700 g)

Raw, unrefined Nilotica shea butter from northern Uganda, a different species from the West African shea butter most buyers know. Per the GIZ sector brief, Nilotica has up to 30% more oleic acid, so it melts at roughly 26 to 32 °C (West African: 34 to 44 °C). It is soft in the jar and turns to oil on contact with skin, with a mild, sweet scent instead of a heavy nutty one. Unrefined means no bleaching or deodorising: refining gives a uniform white, scentless butter but removes colour, scent and some natural compounds. Cold-pressed, according to the brand, in a 700 g retail jar. Being soft, it suits cool storage.

Raw Unrefined Shea Butter (Bulk)

The same raw, unrefined Nilotica shea butter in 2 kg, 10 kg and 20 kg buckets for manufacturers, spas and hospitality buyers. For formulators the softness is the point: with a melting point of roughly 26 to 32 °C (GIZ sector brief; West African shea is 34 to 44 °C), it blends into creams, balms and body butters without the heating that harder West African shea often needs, and gives a balm-to-oil feel. Unrefined keeps the natural colour, mild scent and original fatty acid profile that refining removes. Soft butter needs cool, light-proof storage and shipping.
